In Our Own Words is a new way for members of the facial pain community to share their story. Whether you had a successful surgery, found a medication that works for you, or you are trying to find a treatment option that helps lessen your pain — wherever you are on your facial pain journey, we hope these stories give you faith for the future.

My name is Dr. James A. Warner. I am a CEO, music educator, professor, and trumpet player. Currently, I am completing the GSU EDBA program as I launch the MXTZ (Miracles Xponentially Transformed through Time, www.mxtzwave.com) SmartStream cognitive AI-enhanced 10-100+ gigabit per second hybrid system, network, and hub. I have lived with persistent atypical bilateral facial pain with holocephalic migraines since June 27, 2013, following a surgical accident to repair my hip where I was intubated and under anesthesia when the surgical table collapsed and fell apart. For over 11 years, I had trouble going outside when temperatures fell below 75°. God has provided me some relief through healing following numerous procedures and medications where I can now tolerate temperatures above 60°.
I was born on the Island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. For over thirty five years, I served in roles as an educator and leader within K-12 schools and universities. My life has been filled with learning activities that also uses science as another foundation to understand the world and life that God created for us to share with one another. I suffered an injury early in life where I fell into a cistern (underground catchment for water) and damage my face. My recovery led me to develop the ability to hear and perceive sound and information with very high levels of acuity and I used this gift to teach and help others. Playing trumpet and learning music was a gift to process sounds at higher levels of sensation, perception, and cognition, which provided me with a stimuli, motivation, and vision that has driven my lifelong learning process.
I am extremely interested and motivated to share my story as an FPA ambassador to help others who live with various conditions of facial pain. I have been able to recover from the surgical accident that occurred in June 2013. I would like to use my ability to overcome this experience and resultant facial pain to motivate other individuals who suffer from these conditions. I am an avid believer in God who created all things and gave me a spiritual understanding that this condition is just a challenge that I needed to overcome as I aspire to achieve the greatness that is within me. I believe that sharing my facial pain story as an FPA ambassador will evolve and transform the way people think and understand the condition of facial pain while increasing their awareness and knowledge of the condition across the US and worldwide.
I am married to my lovely wife, Jacinth Warner, who is a 7th grade math teacher, and we are the extremely proud parents of three children: our daughter, Jalicha, who is an attorney, James Jr. who is a data scientist, and Jaivon, our youngest son who is currently a sophomore majoring in statistics at Mercer University. My family and I reside in Georgia.
